Got a call for a patch job on a 20-year-old stamped patio in Phoenix

The old color hardener was long gone, and the client wanted it to blend. I mixed a little bit of the base concrete color with some powdered pigment and a splash of water to make a thick paste. I buttered that into the patch right before the final trowel. It dried to a near-perfect match, way better than trying to stain it after. Anyone else have a go-to trick for blending old stamped work?

It's funny how the best fixes are often just a simple mix of what's already there.

Oh totally! I see this all the time with cooking. You think you need some fancy new ingredient, but the best meal is just using up the leftovers in your fridge in a new way. It's like the solution was already in the cupboard, you just had to see the pieces differently.
