Bought the $180 magnesium float everyone raves about and it sits in my truck while I grab my $40 wood float

Used it on one pour in Boise and the thing was so light it skipped across the cream instead of pulling it, so I went back to the old wood handle I've had for 9 years, has anyone actually made magnesium work on a stiff mix or did I just burn 180 bucks?
