Two days to find a bad capacitor that looked perfect
Client brought in a Dell OptiPlex that kept freezing during boot. I swapped RAM, tested the drive, reseated everything, still crashed. Spent 2 full afternoons chasing drivers before I noticed the CPU fan was spinning slightly slower than it should. Pulled the board and found a bulged capacitor hiding under the heatsink, one I could only see with a flashlight at an angle. Has anyone else had a part that looked fine until you basically disassembled the whole machine to find it?
