The 6-foot patch cable I kept re-terminating finally made me slow down

I've been doing network drops for a small office in Boise for about 2 years, and I kept re-crimping the same Cat6a cable because the pins were seating wrong every time. Last Tuesday I stopped, watched a slow-mo YouTube clip, and realized I was stripping back too much jacket so the pairs were untwisting before I even got the plug on. Anyone else find that the fix is usually something this basic, or am I just late to the party?
