Stopped by my old high school in Dayton last weekend and the computer lab is now a storage room
Honestly I was back in Dayton last weekend visiting my parents and drove past my old high school, so on a whim I walked in since the front office was open. I spent a lot of hours in that computer lab back in the day, imaging drives, swapping out dead power supplies, even re-seating RAM sticks while the teacher stood over me asking if it was fixed yet. Now the room is full of old desks and boxes of printer paper, and there's not a single machine in there. The librarian told me they went full Chromebook carts about 6 years ago and never looked back. I get it, way less work, no spinning drives to die, no Windows updates eating half a class period. But it hit me that a whole skill set just kind of walked out the door, and the kids now will never know the feeling of cracking open a case to see what's inside. Has anyone else gone back to a place like that and found your old repair spot turned into something else?
