I just lost a whole morning to a bad power strip
Had a client's PC that kept shutting off at random. Spent about three hours swapping the PSU, checking the motherboard, even re-seating the CPU. I was about to call it a dead board and give them a big repair quote. Then, my foot bumped the power strip under the desk and the whole thing flickered. Turns out the cheap strip they had was failing and dropping voltage. I charged them for the diagnostic time, but I still lost half a day I could have used on other jobs. Always check the wall outlet and the strip first, even if it seems too simple. Has anyone else been burned by something this basic lately?

That "too simple to check" thing got a friend of mine too. He spent a whole afternoon replacing network cards and drivers on a machine that kept losing internet, only to find the cat had chewed through the Ethernet cable behind the desk. He swore he'd always check the simple stuff first after that, but I think we all learn that lesson the hard way.

Feel your pain, man. Those simple power gremlins are the absolute worst.
