I just hit 500 fixed laptops in my home shop this year, which I thought was impossible back in January.
It made me realize that focusing on quick turnaround for basic issues like screen swaps and virus removal, instead of chasing complex board repairs, was the key to hitting that number.

Yeah, that makes total sense. I tried getting into board level stuff a while back, thinking it was the real money spot. Spent a fortune on a hot air station and a microscope, just watching YouTube tutorials for hours. The problem was, I'd spend a whole afternoon on one tiny capacitor and still end up with a dead board. Switched to just doing what I knew I could fix fast, and suddenly I wasn't dreading opening the shop door every morning. Volume really does beat the fancy repairs for keeping the lights on.

But you're leaving the hardest, most profitable jobs on the table.
