Client's laptop died 20 min before a court hearing and I had to choose between two bad fixes
This happened on a Tuesday morning at my shop in Boise when a lawyer runs in with a dead Dell, says she needs it for a Zoom hearing at 9. I could pull the drive and drop it in a shop loaner in 15 minutes, but then her files and her Outlook profile would be sitting on hardware she doesn't own. Or I could sit there and try a battery and charger swap first, which is safer but might burn 10 minutes and still not boot. I went with the loaner swap and she made the hearing, but I still wonder if I made the right call. Would you have done the drive swap or pushed for a cloud login and a spare machine instead?
