Blew a power supply last Tuesday - went with a modular unit over a non-modular one, curious what you all prefer
I was swapping out a dead PSU on a client's gaming rig and had to decide between a modular unit and a non-modular one. Went with the modular because cable management in a cramped mid-tower is a nightmare, but the non-modular was $30 cheaper. Ended up spending an extra 15 minutes routing cables anyway since the modular one had stiff wires. Do you guys pay extra for modular or just stuff the extra cables in the drive bay?

Man honestly I think non-modular gets way too much hate. That $30 you saved can go towards a better PSU with higher quality components or just plain cash in your pocket. Most cases have a shroud now anyway so you just stuff the extra cables down there and forget about them. And stiff modular cables are a pain, sometimes you end up with a messier build trying to route all those individual strands compared to just zip tying one big bundle out of sight.

Wait, did the stiff cables make the modular one harder to work with than just tucking the extras from a non-modular would have been? Or was it still worth the clean look in the end?
