A client's 'cat proof' PC build involved a lot of zip ties and a dust filter
Got a house call in Tempe for a gaming rig that kept shutting down. Opened the case and found a thick layer of orange cat hair completely clogging the radiator. The owner had zip-tied a piece of window screen over the front intake as a 'filter'. Took an hour to clean and explain airflow. Anyone else dealt with creative but terrible pet-proofing solutions?

Seen that before. Had a client use pantyhose as a dust filter once. Did not end well.

Yeah that's a classic. People get desperate when a filter clogs. The nylon melts way too fast from the heat. Then you're pulling melted plastic out of the blower motor. Costs way more than a proper filter.

Oh come ON, is it really THAT serious? I've seen people use nylon stockings in a pinch and it works fine for a while. Sure if you leave it on there for months maybe you'll have problems but most people swap em out pretty quick. @keith_taylor30 you gotta admit that pantyhose thing works better than nothing when the store is closed and you're desperate. The whole melted plastic thing only happens if you're running the heat on full blast with a completely blocked filter anyway.
