Wasted $400 on a drysuit repair kit I never used

Bought a big repair kit for my drysuit last year. Seemed like a smart idea. The neoprene glue dried out after six months. Then the patches lost their stick. Ended up paying a shop $150 to do it right anyway. Anyone else had a DIY repair project that backfired?

I mean, that dry glue thing hits too close to home. I still have a half-used tube of seam sealer from 2019 that's basically a plastic brick at this point. My buddy laughed at me when I tried to fix a hole in my waders with superglue and duct tape last winter. Spoiler alert, it did not hold up past the first stream crossing. Now I just keep a running tab at the local repair shop because apparently I'm not qualified to fix anything that gets wet.

Oh man, I did the same thing with a tent repair kit. Bought all these patches and sealant for a rip I thought I could fix, but the sealant turned into a rock after one season. Ended up buying a whole new tent on clearance instead.
