Update: Picked rubber dry suit over neoprene for my first winter of pier inspection work
Started doing pier inspections in Seattle back in November and had to choose between a neoprene suit or a rubber one with latex seals. I went rubber because everyone at the shop kept telling me neoprene gets heavy and cold once it floods, which it did on my third dive when a seal blew. The rubber suit kept me dry enough to finish the inspection and I only had to swap gloves, not the whole suit. Now I'm wondering if I made the wrong call for the summer months since rubber gets swampy above 55 degree water. Anyone run rubber year round up here or do you switch to neoprene in July?
