That $80 drysuit zipper wax almost got me killed...

I spent $80 on that fancy zipper wax from the dive shop and thought I was set. First deep dive off the coast of Alaska last month, the zipper seized up at 60 feet. I had to abort the job and do a controlled emergency ascent because I couldn't seal the suit right. Has anyone else had a brand new product fail on them like that?

Did that stuff come in a fancy tube with a little brush applicator? I bought the same thing last year before a trip to Lake Michigan. First time I tried to use it the whole applicator head popped off and the wax went all over my garage floor. I spent an hour trying to scrape it up and pretty much gave up on the whole idea. Ended up using a cheap tube of silicone grease from the hardware store and never looked back. Sometimes the expensive stuff just isnt worth the headache.
