Pro tip: a 20 year diver in Galveston told me to log my hat pressure before every bounce dive
I was grabbing food at the dock last Tuesday after a shallow inspection job and got talking to this older guy who's been diving since the 90s. He said he writes down his hat pressure, depth, and bottom time in a little notebook right when he surfaces, before he even takes his gear off. I always just trusted the dive computer to keep track. Well I tried it on 6 dives this week and caught one where my gauge was reading 12 psi off from what I thought I set, which could've turned into a real problem on a deeper job. Now I keep a cheap rite in the rain pad in my bag and jot it down dockside. Anyone else do a paper backup or am I just late to this?
