Just read a crazy stat about saturation diving in the North Sea
Found a report saying the average saturation diver works about 120 days a year, but the pay reflects that compressed schedule. I always figured it was more like a standard offshore rotation. Anyone here done sat work and can confirm if that number sounds right?

How many days off do they get?

Honestly, it really depends on the company. At my last job, we started with just two weeks vacation, but they added an extra week after you hit five years. Some places I've seen give unlimited time off now, which sounds great but can be tricky to actually use. You gotta check the handbook or just ask someone who's been there a while.

That 120 day number sounds about right from what I've seen. I worked a North Sea sat gig for three years and averaged around 110 to 130 days per year depending on the projects. The key is that every day you're down there is basically a 24 hour commitment, so a 14 day dive rotation feels like a month of regular work. I had one stretch where I did 18 days straight at 180 meters and the pay for that block alone covered half my year's expenses. The math works because you're trading time for money at a rate that would break a normal 9 to 5.
