Hot take: My DIY ROV build from junk parts kept me sane
I found a bunch of old thrusters and control boxes in the shop storage. Spent my last break trying to make a small remote vehicle out of them. Had to use a plastic tub as a test tank because my pool is too small. It took a few days to get the wires right without shorting everything. But seeing that thing move under water on my own command was pretty cool. I might try to film some fish with it next. What do you all do with spare gear when you're bored?

So how did you even rig up the plastic tub as a test tank... got a picture of that setup?

My buddy Jason used a 50 gallon Rubbermaid tub from his garage. He hooked up a cheap fountain pump from Amazon with some old garden hose for the inlet and outlet. The real hack was using a zip-tied window screen over the drain hole to keep the test fish from getting sucked in. Looked janky as hell but it ran for a full month without leaking.
