Why does nobody talk about reading 90s X-Men issues in order instead of jumping story to story

I was tired of missing context so I spent 3 months reading from issue 1 of the 1991 series straight through, and it actually made the whole Krakoa era make sense. Has anyone else tried a chronological read for a specific era to avoid getting lost?

Same thing happens with TV shows when people skip seasons and wonder why nothing makes sense later.

Used to think jumping around was fine, that missing a few issues didn't matter too much. Then I tried reading from the start of the 90s series up through the end of Onslaught, and it really changed my mind. So much character stuff and small subplots just click into place when you see them build up issue by issue instead of catching highlights. Your mileage may vary but the payoff with the later stories felt way better to me.
