Tried reading my dad's old X-Men comics from 1975, the ads confused me more than the stories
Pulled out his box of X-Men issues from 1975 and the actual comics were fine, but I spent an hour reading ads for Hostess fruit pies and x-ray specs instead of the plot. Made me realize old comics were half magazine, half story, and I kind of miss that feeling. Anyone else end up reading the letters pages more than the actual issues?
Man, those Hostess ads were something else. I still remember the one where Thor is fighting some dude and just stops to eat a Twinkie. Here is my question though, did your dad actually keep the letters pages or did he tear them out? Because the good stuff was always in there, fans arguing about stuff for months on end. What was the best letter you came across?
