You ever accidentally bag a book too tight and watch the spine stress like it's about to snap? I did that with an old "Fantastic Four" once. Thought I was being careful, but the bag was so snug it curled the cover edges. These modern bags are cut weird too, not like the old ones that actually fit silver age books. Might as well use a ziploc if we're gonna get this wrong.

Nah, I actually think the tighter bags are BETTER for older books if you know what you're doing. The snug fit keeps the book from sliding around and damaging the corners, which is a bigger problem with those loose old bags. You just gotta slide it in slow and support the spine with your other hand, then the bag molds to the book instead of fighting it. Those loose bags let dust and debris get in there too, which is worse long term than a little edge curl.
