Saw a huge shift in how fans talk about Batman in just 5 years
I remember back in 2019 at a con in Chicago everyone was all about the dark gritty Batman. Now I see posts everywhere praising the campy Adam West style. It's like people got tired of the gloom and started embracing the fun side. Anyone else notice this flip in the online comic fan spaces?

Catch yourself at that Chicago con though because the dark gritty Batman was already starting to fade by then. The whole "Batman is just a grumpy loner" thing peaked around 2015-2016 with the Snyder run and Batman v Superman backlash. By 2019 people were already memeing on Affleck's Batman and gravitating back to stuff like Batman: The Brave and the Bold or the Adam West reruns on streaming. The fun campy take never really went away, it just got drowned out by the grimdark phase for a few years.

Also nobody's talking about how the fun Batman takes actually helped keep the character alive through the 90s when the grimdark stuff got way too edgy. The Adam West vibe never died it just went underground and popped back up every time people got tired of brooding Batman.
