My uncle told me to buy Amazing Spider-Man #300 back in 1988...

He said it was the first full Venom and would be a big deal someday. I was ten and spent my whole $2.50 allowance on it, which felt like a lot. Now I see what he meant, seeing those prices online... Did anyone else get a tip like that from an older collector that actually paid off?

Remember my dad pushing me to grab X-Men #94 at a con. Thought he was nuts for spending that much on one book. That book alone paid for my first car years later.

Paid for my first car" hits hard. My mom threw out my whole X-Men run during a move, still makes me wince.

Three years ago I dug out a beat-up copy of Amazing Spider-Man #300 from my dad's old collection and nearly fell over when I saw what it was worth. @gray117 Your dad had the right instinct on that X-Men #94 grab, sometimes the expensive books end up being the best investments.
