Can we talk about the 2019 San Diego Comic Con panel on fan entitlement?
I was at the 'Future of Fandom' panel when a creator said some fans treat comics like a subscription service, not art. It made me rethink how I interact with writers online. Now I try to critique the work, not demand changes. Has anyone else adjusted their approach after a con moment?

Yeah, that "subscription service" line hit me hard. It made me see how often I'd just complain about plot points I didn't like instead of talking about the story's actual craft. Now I try to ask "why did this choice not work for me" instead of saying "they should have done this.

My friend spent a whole hour complaining about the ending of that new space show. I finally asked her what she wanted to happen instead, and she just stared at me. It's like @janaw11 said, we get mad when the story doesn't follow our personal script. She couldn't explain why the actual ending was weak, just that it wasn't her preferred fan theory. It's easier to feel cheated than to figure out what the writers were even trying to do.
