TIL the $11 campus parking ticket I ignored for 3 years is why I never went back to finish my degree
I dropped out of UMass in 2019 with 14 credits left, and it was not some big money crisis. I just skipped a class to avoid a $11 parking ticket, missed a quiz, got behind, and never went to that building again. Has anyone else had something tiny snowball like that?
Kept the ticket in my glove box for two years like some kind of trophy, and by the time I finally paid it, I had already missed a whole semester. The thing is, avoiding one building turns into avoiding the whole campus, and then you stop checking your school email, and then you're just some guy who used to go there. That parking office had no clue they ran my whole life for three years over eleven bucks.
