The student loan repayment table that hit me like a brick

I dropped out in 2019 with $18k in federal loans, and I always figured that was manageable. But when I ran the numbers on the standard 10-year repayment plan, I saw I'd pay over $24k total with interest, and that math never crossed my mind while I was signing up. Anyone else do the full payment projection after leaving school and get shocked by the real cost?
