The one thing that actually got me a job after I quit school

I dropped out of my business program two years ago and felt totally lost. The problem was my resume had a big blank spot where my degree should have been. I started a small pressure washing side gig just to make rent, and after about 6 months, I listed it on my resume as 'Owner/Operator' with the specific revenue I brought in. I got three interviews the next week, and one turned into a full-time sales job. Has anyone else found that just putting a real number, even a small one, on a resume made a huge difference?

How much revenue did you actually put on there? Like ballpark.

People get weirdly secretive about numbers, even when it's just a ballpark. It reminds me of how folks won't say what they paid for their house or their salary. Throwing out a real figure feels like giving away some kind of power. Why do you think we treat money talk with so much mystery?
