Pro tip: the library kept my books after I quit, saved me $210 in fines

Dropped out of community college in 2019 and forgot I had 4 textbooks checked out from the campus library. I called last month to return them and they said all accounts went inactive after a semester, so my fines just vanished. Has anyone else found random forgiveness like that after leaving school?
