I finally looked up the actual dropout rate for my old business program

Found out it was 45% after the first year, which explained a lot. Anyone else see a stat that made their own exit make more sense?

That number puts things in a clear light, doesn't it? I had a similar moment looking back at my old engineering track. Seeing the hard data makes you realize it wasn't a personal failure. The program itself was set up to lose a lot of people. It's weirdly comforting to know the odds were stacked that way from the start.

Yeah I used to blame myself but seeing that hard data like wright.michael said is a game changer.

Wait has anyone else read that study from a few years back about how something like 60% of STEM majors end up switching or dropping out within the first two years? @jakef66 it's crazy to think how many people are in the exact same boat but we all beat ourselves up thinking we were the only ones. I stumbled on a podcast that broke down the data on attrition rates and it was honestly kind of freeing to see how many of us hit that wall.
