Hit $10k in monthly savings after dropping out and it felt unreal

I left my university 2 years ago and started a small landscaping business in Austin. Last month I hit $10k in savings for the first time, which is more than I ever had as a student. Has anyone else seen a number that made them question if they made the right call?

And that thing you said about it being more than you ever had as a student, that really sticks with me. In my experience, the numbers hit different when they come from your own hustle versus from a scholarship or a parental handout. Like phoenixb66 said about that retaining wall project, it's almost like your brain has to recalibrate what's possible for you. One year I was scraping by on ramen and library coffee, the next I'm watching a balance that could've paid for a semester just sitting there. It makes you look at every other "you need a degree" person sideways, you know?

The first time I saw a number like that in my account was last November, right after I finished a big retaining wall project. I sat there staring at the screen for a good minute. It's a weird feeling when you realize a choice that scared everyone else actually worked out for you. You bet your savings on yourself and it paid off. That's not something you get to feel often.
