Had to pick between finishing my degree or taking a full-time warehouse supervisor job
I was 2 semesters away from a business degree when my uncle offered me a supervisor spot at his logistics company in St. Louis starting at $48k. I took the job, and 4 years later I'm managing 15 people, but I still wonder if that piece of paper would have opened different doors. Anyone else make a similar trade-off and regret it or feel good about it?

quote @blairm35 saying "hit a glass ceiling" - man, I hear that a lot but I'm not totally sold. Plenty of people move up without degrees once they've got real experience under their belt. Companies care about what you can actually do, not just the paper you hung on the wall five years ago. @blairm35, I've seen warehouse managers jump to regional director roles just based on their track record. The degree thing is overblown for a lot of fields if you're already in the door and proving yourself.

Yo, that's a tough one. I mean, $48k with no student loans is not bad at all, especially right out of the gate. But here's the thing, that business degree could have opened up a way higher ceiling down the road, like management jobs that just screen you out without it. I've seen people hit a glass ceiling after a few years because they don't have that checkbox on their resume. You're managing 15 people now, which is solid, but idk, a lot of those corporate jobs want the degree to even look at your application. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather have it and not need it than wonder what if.
