Debate: Did dropping out make you more motivated or more lost?

When I left college 2 years ago I felt super driven to prove everyone wrong, but now I see some of my friends who stayed are actually happier and more stable. Which side hit you harder - did dropping out light a fire under you or leave you wandering for a while?

You know, I think it lit a fire under me at first, but that fire burned out pretty quick. I felt like I had something to prove for maybe six months, then reality set in and I was just lost without a plan. The friends I had who stuck with school got those degrees and now they have jobs with health insurance and a path forward. Meanwhile I've been bouncing between temp work and trying to figure out what I even want. The motivation from dropping out is real for a while, but it's not the same as having a stable foundation to build on. I honestly think I would have been better off staying and finishing.
