Chose the paid plumbing cert over finishing my degree, got a job in 3 weeks

I was one semester away from a useless associate degree when I took a $900 plumbing cert course in Phoenix instead. Now I clear $28 an hour and my old classmates are still sending out resumes for jobs that want 3 years experience. Anyone else pick a trade over the final push and actually feel lighter for it?
