Update: My drip coffee at home went from bitter to actually good after one small change
For about two years my morning pot tasted harsh no matter what beans I used, and I just chalked it up to my cheap grinder. Then three weeks ago a guy at the roaster on 5th Street asked what ratio I was using and I admitted I was eyeballing it. He handed me a $12 scale and said try 1 gram of coffee to 16 grams of water, so I did, and the difference was obvious by day two. Anyone else find that weighing things fixed a problem they thought was their equipment?
