TIL a Moka pot makes better coffee than my fancy drip machine

I always thought my $200 drip brewer was the best way to make coffee at home. But last month my neighbor in Chicago let me try a cup from her $25 Bialetti Moka pot and I was shocked at the rich flavor. The higher pressure really pulls out the oils and body in a way drip just can't. Now I'm using a Moka pot every morning and I actually look forward to that little ritual. Has anyone else dumped their expensive machine for something simpler?

Funny you should mention that, I actually read somewhere that the Moka pot brews at around 1-2 bars of pressure, which is way more than a drip machine can do. That extra pressure really pulls out the oils and gives it that rich, almost espresso-like flavor. I've been tempted to swap out my Keurig for one after hearing how much people love them.

Yeah that thing about the pressure is exactly why it works so well. You can feel the difference in the cup compared to drip coffee, it just has more body and richness. I'd say go ahead and ditch the Keurig, the Moka pot is dead simple and way cheaper in the long run since you don't need those little plastic pods. The only downside is cleaning it, but that's a two minute rinse. Definitely worth it for the flavor upgrade.
