Spent $80 on a fancy coffee grinder and it burned me bad

I bought this stainless steel hand grinder off Amazon thinking it would be a big upgrade from my old blade grinder. It cost me $80 and looked really nice in the pictures. First week it worked okay but the grind was super uneven no matter what setting I used. Then the handle literally snapped off on a Tuesday morning when I was trying to make my usual pour over. I reached out to the seller and they said it was my fault for over tightening it. Went back to my $20 blade grinder and honestly I get way better coffee now. Anyone else get tricked by a grinder that looked way better than it worked?

Yeah the handle literally snapped off"... that's rough. Makes me wonder if those fancy looking grinders are all just overpriced junk with a pretty finish.

That phrase "overpriced junk with a pretty finish" is EXACTLY what I've been thinking. But here's what gets me - why do companies bother making the handle so cheap on a grinder that costs almost a hundred bucks? Like the metal parts that look expensive must cost them like two dollars to make. Did you check if the handle was actually metal or just some kind of painted pot metal underneath? I swear half these Amazon grinders use the cheapest materials possible and just spray paint them silver to look premium. Makes you wonder if the whole "hand grinder upgrade" thing is just a way to get people to spend more for worse results.
