Pro tip: Check the roast date before you buy beans at that new spot on Main Street

I mean, I stopped by The Daily Grind in Springfield yesterday, and all their bags just said 'fresh roasted' with no actual date. I asked the barista and he admitted some had been on the shelf for over two months. Maybe it's just me, but that's a huge red flag for a place that charges $18 a bag. Has anyone else run into this lately?

Over two months" isn't that long for sealed beans.

But what about the light exposure in that shop? Those big front windows might look nice, but sunlight hitting the bags for weeks is basically a flavor killer. A roast date in a dark cupboard is one thing, but sitting on a bright shelf is a whole other problem.
