Overheard a guy in a coffee shop say 'burr grinders are overrated' and I almost choked on my pour-over

He was telling his friend that a blade grinder is fine if you just shake it while grinding. I had to bite my tongue and just focus on my coffee, but it got me thinking: has anyone here actually done a blind taste test between a cheap blade and a decent burr grinder? I'm curious if the difference is as huge as we all say.

Held my own blind test last year with some friends who swear they can't tell the difference. Used a cheap blade grinder and a hand burr grinder, same beans, same brew method. Everyone picked the burr grind every single time, not just for taste but for how the coffee looked in the cup. The blade grind was all over the place, some chunks, some powder, and it made the coffee muddy and bitter. It's not about being fancy, it's about getting even grounds so your water doesn't over extract the tiny pieces while leaving the big ones alone.
