My pour over routine used to take 15 minutes, now it's 6

I used to obsess over every extra step, grinding fine, doing a 45 second bloom, swirling the brewer, all that. It made a decent cup but I couldn't do it before work, so I'd just hit the drip machine. A buddy at a shop in Portland showed me his method with a coarser grind and one steady pour, no swirl. Tried it one Sunday morning and honestly the cup was just as good, maybe better since the drawdown was so clean. Has anyone else cut their routine down without losing flavor, or is there a step that you refuse to drop?
