My Chemex cracked mid-pour after 8 years of daily use
Was making my morning brew last Tuesday and heard this little ping, then watched hot water and grounds run all over the counter. That Chemex was a hand-me-down from my aunt who bought it at a shop in Portland back in 2016. Anyone else have an old brewing method fail on them out of nowhere?

Dude it's just a glass carafe not a family heirloom, go buy another one for $40 and move on.

Is $40 a small amount to you or a meaningful purchase for most people these days?

Misplaced my French Press plunger last month and spent three days brewing with a paper towel and a rubber band like some kind of caveman. Actually ended up calling my old roommate who moved to Seattle to see if he still had my old one from college, and of course he'd thrown it out in 2019. @davidh88, you're right that it's just a carafe, but after eight years that thing has seen me through three apartments and a breakup where I cried into it every morning for a week. The new one just doesn't feel the same, you know?
