I just found out my 'perfect' coffee ratio was way off for a full year
I've been using 20 grams of beans for a full liter of water every morning, thinking that was the right way. My friend from Seattle came over last week, took one sip, and said 'dude, this tastes like brown water'. He showed me his method, which uses 60 grams for the same amount. I tried it and my mind was blown, the flavor was so much richer. I can't believe I wasted so many good beans making weak coffee. Has anyone else had a coffee ratio wake-up call like this?

Wow, you basically made coffee flavored water for a year. No wonder your friend from Seattle had to stage an intervention. At least you finally got to taste what those beans were actually supposed to do.

My buddy used to brew his tea for like 30 seconds, it was basically hot leaf juice. Took a trip to England to set him straight.

Dude, 30 seconds is basically a crime against tea. @patriciar49 is right, you gotta let those leaves actually do their thing or you're just drinking vaguely brown water. I've found that 3 to 4 minutes is the sweet spot for black tea, and you need the water at a full rolling boil not just hot from the tap. Your buddy was doing himself a disservice, glad he got the real experience.
