Dropped $150 on a ceramic pour-over cone that shattered on day 3
I saved up for months for this Hario drip decanter thing from a shop in Austin. The guy swore it would change my mornings. Third use, I tapped it against the sink to knock out grounds and the whole spout snapped off. Has anyone else had expensive coffee gear break way too fast?

My $80 plastic V60 lasted like 4 years with daily use, but the ceramic one I tried after that cracked within a month from just hot water. I switched to a stainless steel Kalita Wave and it's been bulletproof for 18 months now. I mean, it doesn't feel as fancy but I don't have to worry about tapping it or dropping it. The coffee tastes just as good too. Maybe look into a metal alternative if you want something that can take a bump without breaking.

Dude yes! Same thing happened to me with a ceramic V60. It was so pretty but cracked like two weeks in and I was so mad. My plastic one is still going strong years later, I just don't care how it looks anymore haha.
