Cold brew vs French press for my morning routine in Austin

I tried making cold brew concentrate last week to save time before work, but it came out super weak after 16 hours. Went back to my French press with a medium roast from a shop on South Congress and it hit way harder. The cold brew just didn't have that rich body I crave, even after I doubled the grounds. Anyone else find cold brew overrated for daily drinking?

Oh wow yeah I get that! My buddy Dan tried the whole cold brew thing for like a month straight. He kept talking about how smooth it was but honestly he was just sleepy all morning. One time we were at his place and he pulled out this huge mason jar of cold brew and it looked like iced tea. We both took a sip and it was so weak we couldnt even taste the coffee. He finally gave up after his French press broke and he used the cold brew to try to save money. He went back to his French press the next week and said it was like tasting coffee for the first time again. The ritual of making it hot in the morning is part of the whole vibe anyway, right?

Was the water to coffee ratio off or did you just not let it steep long enough? I've found that cold brew really needs like 20-24 hours minimum to get that punchy flavor, and even then it's different from a hot brew. What brand of beans were you using for that batch?
