Best coffee week I've had in a while came from a $15 grinder upgrade

I picked up a used Baratza Encore on Facebook Marketplace last Tuesday for $15. The guy said it only worked on coarse settings, but I opened it up and found a broken burr holder ring. Replaced it for $8 on Amazon, and now my morning pour overs taste way better than with my old blade grinder. Has anyone else found a cheap fix that totally changed their brew?

You ever think about how many people toss out perfectly good gear just because they don't know how to fix one little part? That's the real win here, not the fancy coffee. I bet that guy thought his grinder was toast and you basically saved it from the landfill for less than the cost of a fancy latte. It's wild how a $8 part and a little patience can beat throwing money at a new machine. Plus now you know that grinder inside and out, so when something else rattles loose you can probably fix that too. That kind of hands-on knowledge is way more valuable than the gear itself.
