Appreciation post: that barista who remembered my order after 6 months away

I walked into that little shop on 5th street near Portland last week after not being there since February, and the woman behind the counter just said 'single origin pour over, light roast, no sugar right?' without even looking at me.

My buddy Mike told me he went back to this bakery in Brooklyn he hadn't been to in like a year and a half. The guy at the counter just slid him a croissant and a black coffee without saying anything. Mike said it was the same exact kind of croissant he always gets, the one with the almond paste inside. He still talks about how that made his whole month.

Mike's story is the best thing I've heard all week. I had the same thing happen at a diner near my old apartment in Queens - the waitress remembered my usual corned beef hash order after two years away.
