Wasted $120 on a coding bootcamp prep course that was just YouTube videos
I signed up for this "prep course" from some site called CodeProPrep back in February. Cost me $120 because they promised it would get me ready for their full bootcamp. Turns out the whole thing was just links to free YouTube tutorials and a few PDFs I could have Googled. The forums were dead too, nobody answering questions. I figured it out after week one when the "instructor" just copy pasted the same response to everyone. Feeling pretty dumb for not checking reviews first. Has anyone else fallen for one of these overpriced beginner courses?

Man, that stinks. It really gets under my skin when places do that, charging money for stuff that's basically free online. I fell for something similar a few years back with a "masterclass" on home renovations, turned out to be the same articles you can find on any blog. You aren't dumb for not checking, these outfits know exactly how to sound legit and prey on people trying to better themselves. It's a hard lesson, but at least you caught it after a week instead of wasting more time. Did you manage to get your money back from your bank or credit card company?

Yeah but did you check if the site had any real reviews or was it just a bunch of fake ones they posted themselves? That's what got me last time, I looked at the testimonials and they all sounded like they were written by the same person. I bet yours was the same deal, just a polished looking sales page with no actual proof of value. It's crazy how these scammers can make anything look legit these days. Do you think reporting them to the Better Business Bureau would actually do anything or is it a waste of time?
