The Tuesday my first script actually ran, and I sat there staring at it like a fool
Back when I was learning Python in 2019, I spent 4 days on a dumb little script that renamed my photo folders, and it kept breaking on the same error I could not read. On a Tuesday night around 11pm it finally ran clean, and 47 folders got renamed in about 2 seconds while I just watched the screen. It felt huge at the time because everything before that felt like guessing. Now I look at that same script and it is 12 lines of stuff a beginner could write in an hour. Tools have changed a ton since then too, and the help you can get on demand is light years past the old forum posts I was digging through. Still, nothing beats that moment when the thing just works. What was the tiny script that made you feel like you actually got it?
