My uncle told me to start with Python back in 2018 and I didn't listen

He said it was the best first language because it reads like plain English and has a huge community. I was stubborn and tried to learn C++ from a dusty book I found, thinking it would make me a 'real' coder. I spent about 3 months just fighting with pointers and memory management before I gave up. I finally switched to Python last year and built my first little web scraper in a weekend. I wish I'd just listened from the start. Anyone else get some advice they ignored that cost them time?

Real coder" thinking got me stuck on Java for way too long.

Tell me about it. I spent years writing factory factories in Java because I thought that's what "real" programming looked like. Felt like I needed a degree just to print "hello world.
