I used to copy every code example straight from the tutorial, and I finally saw why that was stalling me
Last week I was stuck on a Python loop for two evenings, then I retyped the sample by hand instead of pasting it, and I caught that I kept putting the colon in the wrong spot. Turns out my eyes were just skimming past the line while my fingers were moving. Does anyone else learn better by typing stuff out, or am I making extra work for myself?
Read somewhere that retyping code forces your brain to actually process each line instead of just pattern matching shapes. Sounds made up but it matches my experience. The colon thing gets everyone at least once.
