Am I the only one who lost a whole project by not backing up my code?
I learned to save my work in version control after that scary crash.

Learned that lesson the hard way when my laptop died during finals week. Now I sometimes backup so much I forget what changes I even committed. You ever get paranoid and save like five copies of the same file?

Ugh, I feel this so hard. After my own laptop meltdown, I got so scared I started saving drafts to Google Drive, an external hard drive, and even emailing them to myself. I once had three folders called "FINAL" and none of them were actually the final version. It's a whole mess.

God, the multiple "FINAL" folder thing is too real (and a little scary). I've started adding version numbers and dates, like "Project_thing_v4_May23_final_REALLY," which just makes a new kind of mess. Sometimes I'll open an old backup and can't even tell which changes are the right ones because I saved over everything in a panic. It turns the simple act of finding your own work into a crazy puzzle.
