Walked into the 4th quarter down 14 and called a timeout I used to never take

Used to be the guy who would just push through, no stoppage, try to grind it out. Last Saturday at the rec league finals in Wichita, we were down 14 with 8 minutes left and I called a timeout after their third straight bucket. My teammate looked at me like I was crazy. But I remembered watching a video about how momentum is like pressure washing a stubborn stain, if you dont change your angle you just keep spraying the same spot. We slowed it down, ran a set play, got two quick stops, and won by 3. Since then I call timeouts way earlier when I feel the game slipping. Has anyone else flipped on something like this, where the move you used to avoid became your go to?

You ever call a timeout so late that the other team scores twice while you're still trying to find the ref? Yeah, that was me last month. Now I'm out here calling timeouts like I'm coaching the Lakers, my teammates probably think I'm just trying to catch my breath.
