The missed free throw in a 3rd grade game that changed my coaching style

Watching my daughter airball the game winner in front of 40 parents in Akron last spring made me stop yelling instructions from the bench, and now I just let the kids figure it out, has anyone else switched to a quieter approach after a public misfire?

Did the kids actually respond better once you shut up, or was it more about saving yourself from the embarrassment?
